Training with Sheila Stender

My motivation for becoming a Personal Trainer stems from my personal journey. I didn’t start exercising regularly until after children when I was in my 30’s. I started running because it scared me. At age 40 I ran my first half marathon. Next, I took inventory of my upper body. I have always had a weak upper body and I wanted to be strong. So, I started incorporating weights and working with a personal trainer. I set the goal of doing a single pull up. At age 50, I am doing pull ups!

My weight was another issue, it had been slowly increasing over the years. Every time I would try to lose weight I would have to ramp up my daily workouts and go on a diet. I was exhausted and hungry all the time. To make matters worse, my body was changing and I wasn’t able to lose the weight the same way I had in the past. I thought I was eating healthy, but I was making so many mistakes. I knew I had to find a way to eat smarter and not starve myself to lose weight.

Thankfully a friend told me about the trainers and the nutrition package at Integrity. I purchased both. That was the best money I have ever spent, because it changed my life. I was educated about nutrition and given the tools I need to eat to live and to enjoy what I eat. I also changed my exercise regime so that I now work smarter not harder. I lost 30 pounds and today I am at my goal weight. The good news is that I didn’t have to be hungry to do it. I eat more now than I ever have. However, it is really more about how I feel. I feel healthier than ever!

It takes dedication, determination and discipline to reach these goals. I love the way I feel when I require myself to rise to a challenge and finally reach a goal. I want to be part of this journey for others and help them accomplish what they dream of, no matter how big or how small. If I can do it anybody can! I hope to make an impact by helping others tap into their strengths and overcome their weaknesses. I have had an amazing circle of support on my journey and I want to be part of that circle of support for others. I want to share my experiences with others and help them accomplish their health and fitness goals.

I am excited to be training at the gym where I have received so much of the support that has helped me to reach my personal goals. I enjoy learning about people so that I can better understand how to train and motivate them. I know how I reached my goals, but that won’t work for everyone. There are many different paths to help people reach their goals and their full fitness potential.  I want to help others find theirs. There is no better way to spend my day, than helping others live their healthiest lives. We all feel better when we do!

Form, Function, Mobility are common phrases in the athletic community, however I am seeing more and more professionals and amateurs alike practicing “Do as I say and not as I do.” I think the basics g
